The Manchester winter wonderland in December 1950. The railways could keep going when snow closed roads. Railwaymen salted Manchester Victoria's pointwork so trains could access all platforms.
A train steams into Victoria Station, Manchester. Their entry to the various platforms was faciliated by railwaymen who 'salted' the points to prevent them freezing. December 1950.
