"No, you can't see the number!" the driver of Bulleid Merchant Navy No. 35010 Blue Star seems to be indicating to these politely determined youthful spotters with notebooks, at London Waterloo, in 1952.
They model contrasting examples of classic spotters' garb of either long socks, short trousers and short-sleeve shirts, or the full school uniform (including cap). Blue Star is currently stored at the Colne Valley Railway, Essex.
