World steam speed record holder, Gresley A4 class No. 4468 Mallard is going well along the Settle & Carlisle Railway, with the distinctive slope of Pen-y-Ghent behind reflecting its smoke box. Restored to working order in 1988 to celebrate the record's 50th anniversary, Mallard in its striking garter blue livery worked many excursions, but has now returned to static display in the NRM at York.
